Some niches, as you'll discover, are not as profitable as others. You need to look at your audience and see if they're willing (and able) to spend money for the solutions they're seeking. You need to find keywords that a lot of people are searching for, that have little, or no competition, create your product or service based on the topics people are searching for, and place it in front of them.
For instance, golfers have deep pockets because the game of golf in itself is expensive. They're also rabid fans of the game who would do anything to improve their score or beat their competitors on the links. Now golf is a huge market, and you can't really compete with companies like Nike who spend millions and millions of dollars a year on promotion. But you may find that something like 'How to take 10 strokes off in 10 days' or 'How to correct any slice' may be a niche market, a niche market that you can dominate because golfers can, and will pay for this information.
But another niche, such as single moms on a budget may not be willing to pay $67 for an information product showing them how to get organized. Sometimes it depends on the solution itself. Targeting this same niche of single moms, you may find some are willing to pay $47 for an eBook that shows them how to make more money working from home than they do in their regular 9-5 jobs.
One good place to start is with online groups and forums. You can go to iVillage or Yahoo and see what kind of groups garner the most posts. Mens groups such as AskMen might give you insight into what kind of information products this portion of the population might need that help you generate a handsome profit.
There are some free programs that can analyze data like, monthly search counts of keywords and keyword phrases, but that's about all the free ones do. If you're serious about finding, and profiting from your very own niche market, a paid version is the only way to go, invest a 'Dime' to make a 'Buck', it will be one of the smartest investments you'll ever make in your business.
Some of the paid versions are a monthly fee, ranging from about $25/month to $125/month. While others are software versions that run from your desktop and you only pay once. I have seen these range anywhere from $67 all the way up to $250. Make sure if you purchase one of these versions that they come with lifetime updates for no additional costs to you.
You're not just looking for a broad group of people to cater to, you're looking for those with a lot of similar problems. When you start creating your information products, you'll want to build an empire of products that all focus on the same niche, allowing you to market to existing, loyal customers who buy from you time and time again.
Now don't get uptight about having to create all these information products by yourself, there are plenty of low cost or no cost options open to you. You can find and buy articles and eBooks for about a dollar a page, and they're well written and informative. Plus lots of free methods that you can use to put together you info product.
Sometimes, you'll find one large niche and then realize you need to build your information product line around a more targeted, narrow niche of people. For instance, parents in general have many problems you could address, such as raising smart kids, dealing with discipline, and saving money.
But you can then narrow that niche to moms or dad and dig deeper by focusing on parents of multiples or parents raising kids with physical ailments or twins. Just remember that an information product is not really a product at all, it's a solution, so it needs to be marketed as something that will improve lives.
The more problems you can solve for people, the more money you will make. Solve bigger problems for bigger groups in your niche market, and get bigger paychecks.
If you're just out to make a buck, people will sense it and run the other way from anything you offer. Make sure it is only and always top quality and people will have their wallets open when your next offer comes around. Tags:
